Sports Forum: New Zealands national traditional sport - Ki-o-Rahi

Hello to you all and in my native tongue kia ora koutou! I am a woman who plays a game in New Zealand called Ki-o-Rahi. It is a very physical game and it is said by visitors to our country that it is the most demanding full contact sport in the world mentally. The game does require alot of quick thinking because there are so many concepts involved and the physical demands are so great because of the mix of aerobic and anaerobic qualities needed toplay. There are rules which allow men and women to compete equally. In this respect the mental and physical characteristics of New Zealands national traditional game are probably unique in the world? My question is has a fullon competitive game ever been played with men and women teams in American football which has similar hits and tackles as our national Maori game?
